The North Africa Cultural Program is AFAC’s flagship program, launched in May 2019 through a grant from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
NACP is a three-year program (2019-2022) that is dedicated to five countries of North Africa - namely Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, and Libya - and that comprises two support schemes: a National Fund and a Regional Fund. Together, the two funds aim to strengthen independent arts and culture entities (institutions, collectives, networks, spaces…), encourage regional collaborations, and focus on supporting distribution, circulation and dissemination of artistic works in all fields. Over the program’s duration, a series of convenings and events will take place, focusing on exchange, peer-to-peer learning, case studies, and lessons learned among the program’s grantees but also with the larger public.
NACP through its National Fund, specifically targets cultural entities, and promotes, strengthens and contributes to the sustainability of renowned and promising initiatives and structures in Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and Egypt – through institutional and/or programmatic support. Twenty-eight entities benefited from the NACP’s National Fund long-term support, which will span from November 2019 to March 2022.
On the other hand, the NACP Regional Fund aims to support transboundary projects that promote joint artistic collaborations, distribution, and the exchange of arts and culture practices among the five North African countries (Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia and Morocco) as well as with the rest of the Arab and African regions and beyond. Through a rolling call that opened in May 2019, 12 regional projects involving 34 cultural entities from the region and beyond, were selected for longer-term support through the NACP Regional Fund.
The NACP Regional Fund will provide the connecting tissue for cultural exchange, transfer of knowledge and long-term investment toward the cultural scene thereby impacting on communities.
The present web platform, dedicated to the program, will operate as an interface for the 40 entities under NACP; a constellation of these entities’ activities under the program, their collaborations, as well as a visualization of the NACP’s impact on each of these institutions, the community they operate within, and the region at large. Furthermore, the NACP web platform will, in the long run, represent a rich source of knowledge and insights for scholars and researchers of the region.

Le Programme Culturel de l’Afrique du Nord – NACP est un programme phare de l’AFAC, lancé en mai 2019 à travers une subvention de la Direction Suisse pour le Développement et la Coopération (DDC).
Le NACP est un programme sur trois ans (2019-2022), dédié aux cinq pays de l’Afrique du Nord – notamment l’Egypte, le Maroc, la Tunisie, l’Algérie et la Libye – et qui comprend deux structures de soutien : un Fonds National et un Fonds Régional. Ensemble, ces deux Fonds visent à renforcer les entités artistiques et culturelles indépendantes (institutions, collectifs, réseaux, espaces…), à encourager les collaborations régionales et à se concentrer sur le soutien à la distribution, la circulation et la diffusion des œuvres artistiques dans tous les domaines. Pendant toute la durée du programme, une série de convocations et d’événements auront lieu, axés sur les échanges, l’apprentissage entre pairs, les études de cas et les enseignements tirés parmi les bénéficiaires du programme, mais aussi avec le grand public.

برنامج شمال إفريقيا الثقافي هو إحدى برامج آفاق الرائدة، تم إطلاقه في أيار/مايو 2019 من خلال منحة من مكتب التعاون السويري – SDC. البرنامج مخصص ببلدان شمال إفريقيا الخمسة، وهي مصر والمغرب وتونس والجزائر وليبيا، ويتضمن خطتي دعم: منحة الدعم المحلي ومنحة الدعم الاقليمي. تهدف الأولى إلى تعزيز وتمكين الكيانات الفنية والثقافية المستقلّة (مؤسسات، مجموعات، شبكات، مساحات...) من خلال الدعم المؤسسي والبرامجي. بينما تدعم الثانية التعاونات الإقليمية بين المؤسسات وتركز على المشاريع التي تعمل على توزيع ونشر وتداول الأعمال الفنية في مختلف المجالات. على مدار مدة البرنامج، ستعقد سلسلة من الاجتماعات والفعاليات، مع التركيز على التبادل والتعلم من نظير إلى نظير ودراسات الحالات والدروس المستفادة بين الحاصلين على منح عبر البرنامج، وكذلك مع الجمهور الأكبر. يستهدف الرنامج من خلال منحته المحلية الكيانات الثقافية على وجه التحديد، ويعزز ويقوي ويساهم في استدامة المبادرات والهياكل الشهيرة والواعدة في المغرب والجزائر وتونس وليبيا ومصر - من خلال الدعم المؤسسي و/أو البرنامجي.
