El Hamra Theater, active since 2001, aims to offer a space of creation that addresses the various needs of artists. In this perspective, a three-steps life cycle has been set up: a) Training – through its ARAF center (Centre Arabo-Africain de Formation et de Recherches Théâtrales), the space offers an incubation program to form young Arab and African theater professionals, giving them the skills required to consolidate their knowledge and better sculpt their talent to create a bridge between these cultures, so different and yet so interlinked; b) Production and programming – the El Hamra theater produces and co-produces dance and theater shows (four shows per year) that are open to the public, and is one of the major spaces that welcome Tunisian cultural events, such as Journées Théâtrales de Carthage as well as encounters, debates and workshops; c) Distribution through the Festival Ezzeddine Gannoun pour le Théâtre, a platform for national and international diffusion of Arab and African artists’ works through networking opportunities between structures and festivals around the world. The festival launched its first edition in 2019, and takes place annually during the last week of March.
Le théâtre El Hamra, actif depuis 2001, vise à offrir un espace de création qui répond aux différents besoins des artistes. Dans cette perspective, un cycle de vie en trois étapes a été mis en place : a) La formation – par le biais de son centre ARAF (Centre Arabo-Africain de Formation et de Recherches Théâtrales), l’espace offre une incubation pour encadrer les jeunes professionnels du théâtre arabe et africain, garantissant ainsi les compétences nécessaires pour consolider leurs connaissances et mieux sculpter leur talent en vue de créer un pont entre ces cultures, si différentes et pourtant si liées ; b) Production et programmation – le théâtre El Hamra produit et coproduit des spectacles de danse et de théâtre (4 spectacles par an), propose des spectacles ouverts au public et constitue l’un des espaces majeurs qui accueillent les événements culturels tunisiens, comme les Journées Théâtrales de Carthage ainsi que des rencontres, des débats et des ateliers ; c) Diffusion à travers le Festival Ezzeddine Gannoun pour le Théâtre qui constitue une plateforme de diffusion nationale et internationale pour les artistes arabes et africains. Il offre une mise en réseau entre les structures et les festivals du monde entier. Ce festival a lancé sa première édition en 2019, et se déroule chaque année pendant la dernière semaine de mars.
يعمل “مسرح الحمراء” منذ سنة 2001 على توفير مساحة إبداعيّة تلبي احتياجات الفنانين المتعددة. من هذا المنطلق، وُضِعَت دورة حياة من ثلاث مراحل: أ) التدريب – من خلال “المركز العربي الإفريقي للتكوين والبحوث المسرحية” التابع للمسرح، توفر هذه المساحة برنامج احتضان لتأهيل الشباب العربي والإفريقي المحترف وبالتالي ضمان حصولهم على المهارات اللازمة لتعزيز معرفتهم وصقل مواهبهم بشكلٍ أفضل بحيث ينشأ رابط بين هذه الثقافات الشديدة الاختلاف بالرغم من ترابطها وتشابكها؛ ب) الإنتاج والبرمجة – ينتج “مسرح الحمراء” ويشارك في إنتاج عروض مسرحية وعروض راقصة (أربعة عروض في السنة)، وينتج عروضاً متاحة للجميع، كما يُمثِّل واحدة من أهم المساحات التي تستقبل النشاطات الثقافية التونسية مثل “أيام قرطاج المسرحية”، ذلك بالإضافة إلى تنظيم اللقاءات والنقاشات وورش العمل؛ ج) التوزيع من خلال “مهرجان عزالدين قنون للمسرح” الذي يُشكِّل منصة وطنية ودولية لنشر أعمال الفنانين العرب والأفارقة. كما يساعد المسرح في التشبيك بين المؤسسات والمهرجانات حول العالم. أطلَق هذا المهرجان نسخته الأولى سنة 2019 وهو يعقد سنويًا خلال الأسبوع الأخير من شهر آذار/مارس.
We pride ourselves with our training and theater research center ARAF, which has offered its services to 370 Arab and African nationals across the region, as well as the production of more than twenty theater works, the founding of the Ezzeddine Gannoun festival, and the election of our Director Cyrine Gannoun as Woman Entrepreneur of the year 2018 by The Manager and the Friedrich Naumann Foundation.
Nous tenons à coeur notre centre de formation et de recherches théâtrales ARAF, qui a offert ses services à 370 ressortissants dans différents pays arabes et africains ; ainsi que la production de plus d’une vingtaine de créations théâtrales ; la naissance du festival Ezzeddine Gannoun ; et le label obtenu par notre directrice Cyrine Gannoun, élue femme entrepreneure de l’année 2018 par Le Manager et la fondation Friedrich Naumann.
نفتخر بـ”المركز العربي الإفريقي للتكوين والبحوث المسرحية” التابع لنا، والذي يقدم خدماته لـ370 مواطناً عربياً وإفريقياً من مختلف أنحاء المنطقة؛ وبإنتاجنا لأكثر من 20 مسرحية؛ كما بولادة “مهرجان عزالدين قنون”؛ وبالجائزة التي فازت بها مخرجتنا سيرين قنون، التي اختيرت رائدة أعمال سنة 2018 من قبل مؤسسة “ذا ماناجر” ومؤسسة “فريدريش ناومان”.
We have been supporting the initiatives of young talents by offering them access to our space for rehearsals or concerts. Furthermore, young directors and filmmakers have undertaken shootings at El Hamra, and their films were screened in our space. We have also hosted the film club of the Tunisian Federation of Amateurs Filmmakers. Moreover, our location in a popular neighborhood in the heart of the capital allows us to organize public events in the souk under the slogan “Art in the City”.
Notre espace soutient les initiatives des jeunes talents en leur accordant l’espace pour répétitions ou concerts à titre gracieux. Ceci se manifeste principalement à travers les tournages réalisés à El Hamra par de jeunes réalisateurs et cinéastes en début de carrière et la projection de ces films dans notre espace. Toujours dans le monde du cinéma, l’espace El Hamra a collaboré à maintes reprises avec la Fédération Tunisienne des Cinéastes Amateurs en accueillant leur club de cinéma. D’autre part, El Hamra, consciente de l’importance de son emplacement sis dans un quartier populaire au cœur de la capitale, propose des événements publics en plein souk sous le slogan “Art dans la cité”.
ندعم مبادرات المواهب الشبابية من خلال توفير مساحتنا لهم لإقامة البروفات والحفلات الموسيقية. بالإضافة إلى ذلك، صوَّر مخرجون سينمائيون شباب لقطات في “مسرح الحمراء”، وعُرضت أفلامهم في مساحتنا. كما أنّنا استضفنا نادي سينما “الاتحاد التونسي لصانعي الأفلام الهواة”. علاوة على ذلك، فإنّ موقعنا في حيّ شعبي في قلب العاصمة يتيح لنا تنظيم نشاطات في السوق الشعبي تحت شعار “فنّ في المدينة”.
Our NACP project supports us in further strengthening the training component ; developing the Festival Ezzeddine Gannoun pour le Théâtre as the must-go-to distribution platform in the Arab-African region; and, revamping the space in terms of infrastructure and equipment.
Notre projet NACP nous aide à développer davantage le volet formation, à faire du festival Ezzeddine Gannoun pour le Théâtre la plateforme de diffusion incontournable dans la zone arabo-africaine et à rénover l’espace en termes d’équipement et d’infrastructure.
يساعدنا مشروع “برنامج شمال إفريقيا الثقافي” في استكمال تطوير الشق المتعلق بالتدريب؛ وفي تحويل “مهرجان عزالدين قنون للمسرح” إلى منصة توزيع أساسية في المنطقتين العربية والإفريقية؛ وفي تجديد المساحة من حيث البنى التحتية والمعدات.
We committed to enhancing our strategic planning in order to bolster our program and outreach, and to optimize human resources, fundraising, and financial systems.
With regards to program and outreach, we were able to increase our performance output and engage with prestigious national and international festivals, including the Tunisian National Theater. We also succeeded in raising funds for operations and production, thanks to the support of the Ministry of Culture in 2021, and the extension obtained for external restructuring by Tfanen Tunisie.
As to human resources development, we recruited a Project Manager and an in-house translator for live subtitling of plays from Arabic to French, and secured a new agreement with Eazytick online ticket sales.
Where financial management is concerned, we were also able to define a new financial management strategy that prioritized investments with a positive impact and that is based on fixed running costs and yearly production projections.
Nous nous sommes engagés à améliorer notre planification stratégique afin d’améliorer notre programmation et notre rayonnement, et d’optimiser les ressources humaines, la collecte de fonds et les processus financiers.
En termes de programmation et de rayonnement, nous avons pu accroître notre production de spectacles et participer à de prestigieux festivals nationaux et internationaux, notamment au Théâtre National Tunisien. Nous sommes également parvenus à lever des fonds pour les opérations et la production grâce au soutien du Ministère de la Culture en 2021, et au délai de prolongation obtenu auprès de Tfanen Tunisie, dédié à la restructuration externe.
Pour ce qui est de l’évolution des ressources humaines, nous avons recruté un chef de projet et un traducteur interne pour le sous-titrage direct des pièces de l’arabe vers le français, et conclu un nouvel accord avec la billetterie en ligne Eazytick.
Sur le plan de la gestion financière, nous avons réussi à définir une nouvelle stratégie accordant la priorité aux investissements à impact positif, basée sur des coûts de fonctionnement fixes et des projections de production annuelles.

فيما يتعلق بالبرنامج والتواصل، تمكنا من زيادة إنتاجنا من الأداء والمشاركة في المهرجانات الوطنية والدولية المرموقة، من بينها “المسرح الوطني التونسي”. كما نجحنا في زيادة التمويل لعمليات التشغيل والإنتاج، بفضل دعم وزارة الثقافة التونسية في 2021، وتمديد المنحة التي حصلنا عليها من برنامج “تفنن” التونسي.
بالنسبة لتنمية الموارد البشرية، قمنا بتعيين مدير مشروع ومترجم دائم للترجمة الفورية للمسرحيات من العربية إلى الفرنسية، وتوصلنا إلى اتفاقية جديدة مع تطبيق Eazytick لبيع التذاكر عبر الإنترنت.
فيما يتعلق بالإدارة المالية، تمكنا أيضاً من تحديد إستراتيجية إدارة مالية جديدة تعطي الأولوية للاستثمارات ذات التأثير الإيجابي والتي تستند إلى تكاليف التشغيل الثابتة وتوقعات الإنتاج السنوية.
