Wekalet Behna aims to build a contemporary art framework that stimulates critical thinking and rethinking of the constant and dominant contemporary artistic and institutional practices.
Founded in 2014 in Alexandria, Wekalet Behna focuses on visual and contemporary arts as well as alternative education. The space includes three cinema halls, a free-of-charge public library, a showroom, and a film archive.
Wekalet Behna vise à mettre en place une structure qui stimule la pensée critique et la remise en question des pratiques artistiques et institutionnelles contemporaines dominantes.
Fondé en 2014 à Alexandrie, Wekalet Behna est pointé sur les arts visuels et contemporains ainsi que sur l’éducation alternative. L’espace comprend trois salles de cinéma, une bibliothèque publique en accès libre, une salle d’exposition et des archives cinématographiques.
تهدف “وكالة بهنا” إلى بناء هيكلية عمل قادرة على تحفيز التفكير النقدي وإعادة النظر في الممارسات الفنية والمؤسسية الشائعة والراسخة في مجال الفن المعاصر. تأسست “وكالة بهنا” في الإسكندرية عام 2014، وهي تُركّز على الفنون البصرية والمعاصرة كما على التعليم البديل. يشمل فضاء “وكالة بهنا” ثلاث صالات عرض سينمائي ومكتبة عامة وقاعة عرض وأرشيف خاص بالأفلام.
AVEC is a cultural non-governmental organization aiming to contribute to the building of a cultural bridge between Tunisian youth and Euro-Mediterranean youth for exchange of knowledge, experiences, and access to other cultures. AVEC also wants to contribute to the expansion of the principles and values of democracy.
AVEC est une organisation culturelle non gouvernementale cherchant à ajouter sa pierre dans la construction d’un pont culturel entre la jeunesse tunisienne et la jeunesse euro-méditerranéenne pour l’échange de connaissances et d’expériences et pour l’accès à d’autres cultures. En outre, AVEC vise à contribuer à l’expansion des principes et des valeurs de la démocratie.

SAVVY Contemporary – The laboratory of Form-Ideas is an art and project space that aims at critically reflecting on and fostering the discourse between Western and non-Western art, as well as bringing this subject matter to public consciousness. With art exhibitions and other performance channels like dance and music, it is intended to ignite an interest as well as stimulate inclusion and interaction with the audience. Furthermore, discussion forums and an accessible library support this aim and enable a dialogue of cultures at eye level.
SAVVY Contemporary – The laboratory of Form-Ideas est un espace d’art et de projet dont l’objectif est de mener une réflexion critique et d’encourager le discours entre l’art occidental et non occidental, ainsi que de sensibiliser le public à ce sujet. Grâce à des expositions d’art et à d’autres formes de performance telles que la danse et la musique, l’objectif est de susciter un intérêt et de favoriser l’inclusion et l’interaction avec l’audience. Cet objectif est soutenu, en outre, par des forums de discussion et une bibliothèque ouverte qui permettent un dialogue des cultures à hauteur d’yeux.
“سافي كنتمبرري – مختبر الشكل والأفكار” هي مساحة مخصصة للفن والمشاريع الهادفة إلى تشجيع التفكير النقدي وتحفيز الخطاب بين “الفن الغربي” و”الفن غير الغربي”، بالإضافة إلى طرح هذا الموضوع للعموم. من خلال العروض الفنية وفنون الأداء مثل الرقص والموسيقى، نسعى لإثارة اهتمام المُتلقين وتحفيز مشاركتهم وتفاعلهم. بالإضافة إلى ذلك، تسهم في تحقيق هذا الهدف منتديات للنقاش ومكتبة عامة متاحة للجميع، ما يُحفِّز الحوار بين الثقافات على قدم المساواة
The project intends to organize a transnational solution-driven, discursive program around challenges and opportunities in cinema from the Global South. This discursive program is imagined as a series of intensive, solution-oriented, think-wells where diverse cinema, technology, and political practitioners will be invited to connect and propose ideas. The activities will be organized in multiple locations across North Africa and in Berlin.
Le projet vise à organiser un programme discursif transnational axé sur les solutions autour des défis et des opportunités du cinéma des pays du Sud (Global South). Ce programme discursif est imaginé comme une série de réflexions intensives à la recherche de solutions dans lesquelles divers praticiens du cinéma, de la technologie et de la politique seront invités à se connecter et à proposer des idées. Les activités seront organisées dans à travers l’Afrique du Nord et à Berlin.
يهدف هذا المشروع إلى تنظيم برنامج نقاش عابر للحدود يتمحور حول فرص وتحديات سينما الجنوب العالمي. يُمكن تصوّر برنامج النقاشات هذا كسلسلة من حلقات التفكير المكثّفة التي تُركّز على اجتراح الحلول، حيث ستتم دعوة اختصاصيين في مجالات السينما والتكنولوجيا والسياسة للتواصل وتبادل الأفكار. ستُقام فعاليات البرنامج في مدن عدّة من شمال إفريقيا كما في برلين.
Near East, Middle East, Far East / Contemplations on Contemporary Cinema is a series of conversations, passionate debates, and meetings leading to the creation of new formats, alliances, and coalitions spread across different locations. Central to these debates are issues of funding, archiving, distributing, institution building, law infringing, technology, and, of course, the creation and sustainability of transnational media exchanges in the Global South. We organise programs collectively for the purpose of connecting media practitioners across the region and beyond to strengthen a translational network of spaces and specializations. How can we strengthen alliances between cultural realities that exist in vulnerable positions, economically, politically, culturally? What does sustainability, a highly neoliberal term, mean in these realities that often oblige us to accept exploitative and exoticising cultural exchanges in order to secure basic survival? Or, to be more precise, who can receive funding only in exchange of content and images that often end up being inaccurately framed, generically described, or easily reduced to categories or geographies. What can be the alternative spaces where these realities can be expressed without having to perform their Otherness, and to present their witness accounts within white walls, perfect black boxes, and cocktail parties?
Proche-Orient, Moyen-Orient et Extrême-Orient / Contemplations sur le cinéma contemporain est une série de conversations, de débats passionnés et de rencontres menant à la formation de nouveaux formats, d'alliances et de coalitions dans différents endroits, se concentrant sur les questions de financement, d'archivage, de la distribution, de la création d'institutions, de la transgression des lois, de la technologie et, surtout, de la création et du maintien d'échanges transnationaux entre les médias du Sud.
Nous organisons collectivement des programmes dans le but de mettre en relation les praticiens des médias dans la région et au-delà, afin de renforcer un réseau transnational d'espaces et de spécialisations.
Comment renforcer les alliances entre les réalités culturelles qui existent dans des positions vulnérables, économiquement, politiquement et culturellement ? Que signifie la "durabilité", ce terme fortement néolibéral, dans ces réalités souvent obligées d'accepter des échanges culturels exploitants et exotisants pour assurer leur survie.
Ou, pour être plus précis, qui ne reçoivent du financement qu’en échange de contenus et d'images
qui finissent souvent par être présentées de manière inexacte et simplifiée, ou facilement réduites à des catégories ou des géographies. Quels peuvent être les espaces alternatifs où ces réalités peuvent-elles s'exprimer au lieu d'être poussées à jouer leur altérité et à témoigner uniquement entre des murs blancs, des boîtes noires parfaites et des soirées cocktails?
"نير ايست، ميدل ايست، فار ايست / تأملات حول السينما المعاصرة" هي سلسلة من اللقاءات والنقاشات التي تهدف إلى تشكيل صِيَغٍ وتحالفات جديدة في أماكن مُتعدِّدة. تُركِّز هذه المبادرة على مسائل التمويل، والأرشفة، والتوزيع، وإنشاء المؤسسات، وكسر القواعد، والتكنولوجيا، وخصوصاً على إقامةِ، وضمانِ استدامةِ، تبادلات عابرة للحدود في مجال الميديا على صعيد الجنوب العالمي.
نعمل جماعيًا على تنظيم برامج تهدف لربط اختصاصيي الميديا في مختلف أنحاء المنطقة وخارجها بغية تعزيز شبكة مساحات واختصاصات عابرة للحدود.
كيف نستطيع تعزيز التحالفات بين الفاعلين الثقافيين المتموضعين في المواقع الأكثر هشاشة على المستويات الاقتصادية والسياسية والثقافية؟ وما معنى "الاستدامة"، بصفتها مصطلح نيوليبرالي بامتياز، بالنسبة لهؤلاء الفاعلين الذين غالباً ما يُضطرون لقبول تبادلات ثقافية استغلالية قائمة على الإكزوتيكية، وذلك لتأمين أبسط متطلبات استمرارهم؟ هؤلاء الفاعلين الذين لا يتلقون التمويل والدعم إلّا مقابل إنتاج محتوى وصور غالبًا ما ينتهي بها الأمر معروضةً في إطار ليس بدقيقٍ، أو موصوفةً على نحو بالغ العمومية، أو مختزلةً ضمن فئات أو جغرافيات معينة ومحصورةً فيها؟ ما هي المساحات الجديدة الممكنة التي قد تتيح لهؤلاء الفاعلين الثقافيين التعبير عن أنفسهم من دون أن يلعبوا دورهم "الغيري"، عارضين شهاداتهم ضمن جدران بيضاء، وعلب سوداء مثالية، وحفلات كوكتيل؟
